We had great pleasure in restoring this wonderful Grade 2 listed cottage and gardens!  At the point we acquired “The Cottage” it had been a rental property for many years and lost much of its character and charm. Working alongside the conservation officer we restored the original sash windows and had a local joiner remake windows to reinstate the character where the old windows had been removed  previously. We re-roofed the property in hand made clay tiles and had a stunning wrought iron and lead canopy made for the front entrance. Internally reclaimed oak flooring has been laid to the entire ground floor, fireplaces have been reinstated, a bespoke kitchen designed and bathrooms fitted with period sanitary wear and cast iron roll top bath. Using sympathetic interior design to create a sophisticated and charming English cottage.

making it happen!! http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/making-it-happen/ http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/making-it-happen/#respond Fri, 09 Sep 2016 10:55:50 +0000 http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/?p=609 The 60’s … a slightly questionable period in design and architecture – this would be my interpretation – I think that this period is not everyones desire!

This made “Olive Grove” an exciting challenge, taking a house which would not always appeal to everyone and transforming it into a stunning contemporary family home!

This house had been built by it owner as their family home and we had the privilege of being just the second owner.  Therefore this property was truly in its original form when we aqired it and in need of complete refurbishment. We wanted to be able to give the house a face lift making it look like new whilst keeping some of its interesting features and unique shape. Creating a truly ‘one-off’ property boasting stylish modern design with a sixties twist!

Another project begins… http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/another-project-begins/ http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/another-project-begins/#respond Fri, 07 Aug 2015 14:29:48 +0000 http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/?p=70 We are very excited to be working on this latest project in the heart of Rickmansworth,  on the hugely popular “Cedars Estate.”  This property will boast charm and sophistication.  We aim to restore all the best bits of the homes 1930’s character, completely refurbishing the original part of the house whist we will be adding a substantial two story extension providing over 700sqft of additional accommodation! Transforming this property into a modern family home whilst honouring the period when it was first built!

Changes to the Housing Market http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/changes-to-the-housing-market/ http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/index.php/changes-to-the-housing-market/#respond Fri, 07 Aug 2015 14:28:15 +0000 http://caenwood.co.uk/caen15/?p=68 Following Britain’s vote to leave the EU!

Forecasting the impact that Brexit was going to have on the property market was never going to be easy. However, after property transactions experienced an initial ‘wobble’ from buyers in the first couple of months following the announcement of Britain leaving the EU much has stabilised. There are still a respectable level of transactions happening and achieving good prices going though the autumn months.  Things will naturally slow down towards christmas but with interest rates expected to stay low this preserves the affordability for those with needing mortgage funding. This reduces the risk of a housing market ‘correction’ and property prices look to remain steady albeit probably at a slower ‘damped’ pace than we have seen of the last couple of years.

Good properties are still in demand and although there are fewer numbers viewing properties at present the purchasers that are looking tend to be more serious and ready to commit when they have found the ‘right’ property.
